March 26, 2020
In this webinar we recapped what we learned from Part 1 & Part 2. This was a trial run at taking our classes online.
Assignments
A Stop is a Stop: Depth of Field vs Motion Blur
Goal: Recreate this setup and achieve constant, correct exposure, across all images while changing the Shutter Speed and the Aperture, keeping the ISO constant.
- Step 1: Use tripod, set camera up in vertical position.
- Step 2: Choose a location that is well lit, outdoors works well. Setup subject material like the gallery images provided. Set lens to manual focus and focus on the middle of your setup.Turn off any VR/OS.
- Step 3: Use the "Stop Sheet" as reference, set your aperture to f22 and shutter speed at 1/4 of a second. Then find the appropriate ISO for correct exposure. This may take time to find, start at ISO 100 and work your way higher if needed.
- Step 4: Once you have an ISO that gives you correct exposure, work your way through the stop combinations until you get to the widest f-stop your lens will allow. Remember to make full stop changes on both the f-stop and the shutter speed as you progress. A self timer can be helpful at slower shutter speeds.
When you are finished with your assignment, please submit your photos to me so that I can enter them into the presentation.
